Smaller Indiana Celebrates Milestone
Online Social and Business Network Exceeds 3,000 Members in just
Eight Months of Operation
Indianapolis, IN: September 8, 2008 – Smaller Indiana,
Indiana's online social and business network, exceeded 3,000
members, just eight months after it began. The 3000th member joined
on August 22nd.
"We're establishing a presence here in Indiana," said Pat Coyle,
founder of Smaller Indiana. "We're beginning to have an impact on
business, politics, and the arts, and more people are taking notice
and joining us."
Smaller Indiana is different from other business networks in that
it focuses more on relationships over doing business.
"Our thought is that if we establish new relationships throughout
Indiana, we can create new opportunities for people," said Coyle.
"We've had several members who meet, come up with a new idea, and
bring it together. For example, in the spring, a group of artists
began working on the Elegant Funk art show, which they held this
past August."
"Smaller Indiana has become a way for people to make those
important connections that can lead to some pretty cool ideas and
events. Some of these connections have turned into working
relationships and even friendships."
Coyle created Smaller Indiana as a way for creative people,
entrepreneurs, and small business owners to connect and share ideas.
The group has participated in or sponsored a blogging conference,
the Elegant Funk art exhibition, a lecture and discussion with
author Bill McKibben, a Startup Weekend in Bloomington, smaller
networking sub-groups, including writers, IT professionals, and even
university alumni groups.
