We are excited about our speaker for June, Army Master Sergeant Jeffrey Mittman. Born and raised in Indiana, Master Sgt. Mittman spent over 20 years in the U.S. Army. After multiple tours overseas, including a deployment during the first Gulf War, he was stationed in Iraq as an advisor to an Iraqi battalion.
On the morning of July 7, 2005, Master Sgt. Mittman’s team came under attack, and he was severely injured by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). He was left without a nose, lips, most of his teeth, and the majority of his vision. He has endured more than 40 operations and has spent the last seven years recovering. Fortunately, he has not let his injuries get in the way of his future.
Master Sgt. Mittman not only dedicates his time to increasing employment opportunities for others, but also refuses to let people’s misconceptions about individuals with disabilities get in the way of his own success.
We are honored to have this national speaker who will share with us the lessons he has learned from his experiences.
