SUMMARY:Rainmakers Christian Professionals (RCP)
DESCRIPTION:Recognizing our workplace is also our mission field\, we are here to encourage one another as we learn and apply biblical principles at work. \nRainmakers Christian Professionals (RCP) is an intimate networking experience for Christian business professionals. Every monthly event provides teaching and small group discussion. RCP is a platform to build and strengthen your relationship with God and your relationships with people. \n  \nThis Month: A Why to Live For. Discovering your God-given destiny. \nThe big idea: You are a masterpiece of God with a one-of-a-kind destiny to bring healing to our broken world. It’s time you discover it! \n  \nOur Speaker: Dave Rodriguez \n \nDave Rodriguez is the CEO and Founder of Destinyworks\, LLC. He’s a destiny coach\, author and pastor. For the past 27 years Dave has served as the founding and senior pastor of Grace Church in Noblesville\, IN. He is the author of the book A Why to Live For: Where your destiny meets the broken places of the world. \nDave’s college education began at the University of Pittsburgh. He went on to graduate from Moody Bible Institute and Seminary in Chicago. He also received an honorary doctorate from Taylor University. \nDave has been happily married to Penny for nearly 40 years. When not destiny coaching\, writing or pastoring you’ll likely find Dave slaving over a hot stove doing the hobby he loves – being an amateur chef. \n  \nFind Dave on social media: \nTwitter – @DDRod \nInstagram – d_d_rod \n  \n  \nOur Non-Profit \n \nThe GCC Foundation exists to instill hope\, dignity and sustainable change for all people while transforming the lives of those who give and serve. \nIn July 2012\, the Grace Care Center (GCC) opened with the specific purpose of amplifying efforts to provide care and compassion to the local community through the Choice Food Pantry and referral services. Since then\, the Care Center has grown to serve more than 600 families (2100 individuals) each week through the combined effort of four service areas: The Choice Food Pantry\, Referral Services\, Vehicle Services and ESL Services. For families who need more help than the Choice Pantry and/or ESL\, the GCC developed a co-op program\, which involves monthly meetings to help promote sustainability for those who take part. In 2016\, 19 families graduated from the co-op program\, no longer needing the services of the GCC and on their way of breaking the cycle of poverty within their families.   \nThe GCC is open three days each week\, but has been operating at maximum capacity for more than a year. On average\, the GCC turns away 23 families weekly and the GCC is at maximum capacity for the number of students enrolled in ESL classes. The GCC Foundation/Trust is charged with raising support to expand facilities to maximize efficiencies of the GCC without compromising relationships or impact of programs.   \n  \n____________________________________ \nTHANK YOU TO OUR SPONSOR \n \nCorporate Chaplains of America is the nation’s largest provider of full-time chaplains serving over 350\,000 employees and family members of employees in 43 states. SUMMARY:Business Blaze
DESCRIPTION:An event for business owners and executives\, Business Blaze presents topics relevant to current and future business operations as well as issues that may impact the Indianapolis business community. This quarterly event features top-notch\, industry speakers and an opportunity for meaningful dialogue. \nTopic: Not Wrong Just Different.  Leveraging Differences in the Workplace\n\nWe all want our uniqueness recognized and celebrated\, yet it can feel difficult working with someone that is “different” from us. After years researching and writing about Attention Deficit Disorder\, including a TEDx talk\, Rebecca came to realize it was less about ADD/ADHD and more about all of our unique differences.  She discusses why honoring differences isn’t always our first response and the significant value this approach can bring to enhancing life and business.  Like pieces of a puzzle\, separately the pieces hold little value\, it’s in the connection where our differences join us together and make us stronger and more beautiful.  In fact\, it’s in giving our unique gifts to another that we establish a thriving life and business. \n\n\nSpeaker: Rebecca Fleetwood Hession\n\n\n\nAuthor – Speaker – Thrive Guide\nRebecca has over two decades of experience working\nin leadership\, team building\, and consultative selling.\nShe has a track record of success earning President’s\nClub for 15 years with the Franklin Covey Co. as well as\nthe Principle Centered Leadership Award. Her client\nwork is featured in the best selling book\, The 4\nDisciplines of Execution. She was chosen to perform an\noriginal piece for the Listen to Your Mother show and\nher TEDx talk has been viewed more than 100K times.\nHer blog has nearly one million views.\n\n\nFind Rebecca on:\nLinkedIn\nInstagram\nFacebook\n\n_____________________________\n\nOur Featured Non-Profit\n\nFight For Life Foundation\n\n\n\nOur mission is to help deserving but underserved youth develop the social and emotional qualities needed for success.\n\n\n\nFight for Life Foundation was founded by Marlin Jackson\, former cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts NFL team. \n\n\nMarlin’s mission was to give kids a fighting chance. He had to fight to get to where he was and it wasn’t a fight he wished for anyone. He never knew his father\, his mother was addicted to drugs\, he was neglected and moved from home to home — far from the ideal childhood. \nSo he fought. He had to fight for his life\, the life that he wanted\, the life that was just beyond the horizon of the ghetto that he could not see. The more he experienced outside the confines of his childhood\, the more he became encouraged to fight for all that is right and just in the world. \nMarlin’s hope is to give kids who grow up as he did a fighting chance to make it in the world\, to let them know their environment does not have to dictate who they are in a negative way. \nMarlin’s goal is to introduce kids to life lessons and coach character qualities that he has learned along the way\, in order to help them side step some obstacles that he’s faced and know they have or will face.   We don’t know what we don’t know!  If no one has ever shown or talked to you about love\, respect\, trust\, courage\, or discipline\, then how will you know? \nThe mission of Fight for Life founders and supporters is to fill a void in children’s lives where guidance is missing. We hope to give kids the fighting chance that each child deserves in life\, by instilling the simple qualities that so many people take for granted.  This is why we feel compelled to help in the fight for a better life for disadvantaged children.  This is why we say\, “Dream it…Believe it…Achieve it. The it is up to you! \n\n  \n_____________________________\n\nTHANK YOU TO OUR SPONSOR\n\n\n\nYou focus on growing your business.\nWe’ll focus on keeping it running.\nAIS is an Indianapolis-based IT Consulting\, Strategy & Security company. We begin our\nrelationships with a comprehensive and in-depth assessment of your IT landscape.\nWe analyze your pain points\, identify organizational issues and offer innovative solutions.\nWe then optimize your IT infrastructure—streamlining processes\, implementing best\npractices\, managing compliance\, mitigating risks and maintaining systems. AIS helps you\nalign your technology with your business goals.

SUMMARY:Downtown Meet & Greet
DESCRIPTION:Downtown Rainmakers is a quarterly event for professionals\, executives and business owners whose market place and/or related activities has a center of commerce from the downtown area. Extend your professional network\, meet others who focus on the downtown marketplace\, learn from knowledgeable guest speakers\, and participate in the ever changing business landscape of Indianapolis! \n  \nWe’re at it again with Rainmakers Downtown! Every once in a while we explore a new location to foster new opportunities. \nJoin us for a casual gathering of business professionals. \nRainmakers Downtown Meet & Greet\non\nThursday\, August 22nd \nat \nGavel Curated Cafe \nfrom \n5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. \n  \nDo you want to find new clients and grow your business downtown?\nAre you looking to build strategic relationships with other professionals downtown?\nDo you need to grow your brand presence? \nLight appetizers and a cash bar will be available \n  \n \nGavel is somewhere between a coffee shop and a cocktail bar. They offer curated coffees brewed to exacting standards\, creative low-proof cocktails and their reimagined grilled cheese of the week. They have beer on tap\, select wine and small plates to share. \nGavel also happens to be the lobby of a brand and marketing strategy firm\, MilesHerndon. They love to savor a beverage while connecting with community\, so we decided to open our entryway to the neighborhood. Stop by and join in for a new adventure in drinking. \n \n \n \n  \n________________________________ \n  \nOur Featured Non-Profit: \n \nFounded in 2010\, ProAct Indy partners with community leaders and corporate partners to provide Indianapolis-area disadvantaged youth with character education\, academic enrichment\, and critical service-learning opportunities. Service-learning projects are conducted in a social justice context and enable young people to learn and utilize skills to make positive contributions to their communities. Rather than engaging the typical youth in the typical way\, ProAct takes traditional service learning models and turns them upside down. A key tenet to ProAct’s mission is that\, while we do “serve” at-risk youth\, our youth are not the beneficiaries of our service. Rather\, our youth become the givers and creators of service in their schools and neighborhoods and seek to serve with their community rather than to or for their community by focusing on relationships. ProAct sees disadvantaged youths as young men and women who are capable of doing and being more while being more tolerant and empathetic of others. At ProAct\, we take proactive steps to help them get there. \n  \n \nDerrin Slack\, Founder & CPO \nWhile on a college mission trip to Botswana\, Africa\, Derrin\, experienced the power of giving back to others and wondered how his life would have been different had he been exposed to service at a younger age. This led to the founding of ProAct and what it is today. With a strong background in nonprofit management and research\, training\, and leadership\, Derrin acts as the conduit between the needs of the community\, and the individuals\, partners\, sponsors\, and students that engage with ProAct. Under his leadership\, the organization has engaged over 25\,000 boys and girls\, community leaders\, and business professionals to value intentional community engagement and appreciate diversity and equity as an integral part of their lives. He has trained all over Indianapolis and in such countries as Ireland\, Ethiopia\, Mali\, Mexico\, and the UK; and in many cities in the United States. Derrin can be reached at derrin@proactindy.org

\n  \nAugust Topic: The Chief People Officer\n\nDevelopment. Retention. Engagement. Talent Management. A handful of popular buzzwords today. While the world pitches the latest solutions to our human resource challenges\, there is wisdom in practices thousands of years old. What does God tell us about developing ourselves and others while reflecting his character in the marketplace?\n\n\nOur Speaker: Marcia Barnes\n\n\nAs the Founder + CEO of Valve+Meter Performance Marketing\, Marcia Barnes knows a thing or two about leading and serving. This woman of influence has made a career out of reinventing herself and helping others become the best\nversion of themselves.\nBorn as a farmer’s daughter in southeast Indiana\, Marcia learned many life lessons on the family farm. “I discovered that ability\, combined with a strong work ethic\, has transferred to my business and personal life\,” quips Marcia. “These lessons helped me move from occasional states of brokenness\, poverty and debt to health\, confidence and success. Because of this\, I consistently reinvent myself using these fundamental tools and I have a passion for helping others do the same.”\nMarcia leads a high-performance marketing team focused on delivering growth to those who want it most. The philosophy is simple: know your cost per acquisition\, commit to growth strategies\, harness technology\, test and scale\, and make data-driven decisions. This framework has become a catalyst for transformational growth for clients across the country.\n\nMarcia believes everyone has a ‘here to there’ story unfolding in their lives\, so she focuses her business leadership and personal stewardship on efforts to help others thrive. “God has called so many great leaders into my life at just the right time to teach\, heal\, and inspire. I focus on following him\, and being open to doing the same for others.”\n\nMarcia lives in Indianapolis and serves on many local and international boards\, including Truth at Work\, St. Vincent Hospital Foundation\, Elevate Indianapolis\, Youth With a Mission and Homes of Hope. Marcia has participated in 18 short-term mission trips to build homes in impoverished areas in Mexico.\n\n\n\n\n_________________________________________\n\n\nOur Non-Profit:\n\n\n\n\nOne of the most important and untapped mission fields is the marketplace. Most people spend more than half their waking hours at work\, commuting to and from work or with co-workers or other professionals. They typically spend more time at work or work-related functions than they do with their families\, sleeping\, or any other activity.  Personal and spiritual needs end up taking a back seat to meetings\, deadlines\, and work agendas. Many find they cannot attend church regularly and have no spiritual foundation on which to base life’s decisions or face life issues at work or at home. \nThe cause of Truth At Work is to reach out to minister and provide support where people are spending the majority of their lives…at work! \nTruth At Work invests significant resources in equipping Christian business owners and leaders in earning the right to share their faith in the context of marketplace relationships through modeling Christ-like Servant Leadership. Employees who work for organizations they consider to be spiritual are less fearful\, less likely to compromise their values\, and more able to invest themselves into their work. \nWhile other ministries and organizations work to serve church-attending Christians in the workplace\, few have developed strategic initiatives to provide on-going support of Christian change agents. This unique aspect of Truth At Work aggressively positions itself as an excellent alternative to leading secular training and consulting companies.
