Have you ever noticed how your environment shapes your mood, your productivity and your overall happiness? This is so true. You know, sometimes you go to a place that just feels good, like a restaurant or coffee shop. It is not that the food or coffee is so much better; it is the environment that the people create that is so much better. For example, my office has bright colors, fun furniture, and positive pictures and sayings. There are no windows and I regularly think about how productive I am in the space that I created to consistently be cheery. Funny thing is, this is my first office without windows. I thought that no windows would drive me insane, but I have noticed how productive I am in a room of bright yellow, encouraging words and some of my favorite things, like books, a huge whiteboard, great music, pleasant smelling candles and inspirational words all over the walls. My team and I are reminded on the days of dreary weather how nice it is that we don’t even know it is dark and rainy.
I think we all enjoy being productive. My challenge to you is, is your environment teeing you up for ultimate productivity? Surround yourself with the things that make you feel good, lift you up and inspire you to be your best. Start by making a list of things you love. Now, start incorporating your favorite things into your daily environments.
We only live once. Be your best! Create the space to do it.
