When I meet people with electric personalities early in the morning, I get shocked, but in a good way. That’s how I felt when I met Carly and Mandy at January’s Business Blaze. Some would say they were ecstatic to be speaking at our event, but after meeting them I’d argue they’re energized with positivity wherever they are.
Carly and Mandy, twin sisters and co-owners of Just Pop In! popcorn company, talked about their company’s beginnings and how culture is essential to their success as an organization. Inspired by family moments with their grandfather, Just Pop In! was established in 2013. Since then, they’ve partnered with key local organizations including the Indianapolis Speedway and Sun King Brewery. The Sun King Brewery partnership resulted in one of their most unusual and popular flavors, Dark Chocolate Osiris – yep, beer and chocolate. Unique flavor pairings and fresh popcorn cooked in small batches means this stuff disappears fast. Mandy and Carly were kind enough to provide samples for everyone (there were no samples to be found by the event’s conclusion).
Here’s a little snippet from the presentation.
I had a chance to catch up with Carly this week to see if she had any updates to share – in particular, news about the new building for Just Pop In!. Carly was happy to report that the old building was demolished last month, but said it was bittersweet to watch their “beloved building” come down. Interestingly, the hardwoods, trim, hardware and other salvageable elements from the old building are being repurposed into the new structure. They hope to be open to the public by the end of the summer.
