The Intersection: Story of God and Business Owners

November Topic: Our strategy as business owners should look different as we seek to reflect God’s Story and His Kingdom.

Since we are created in God’s image, we are to be fruitful or creative in all that we do (Genesis 1:28). But we often have a tainted view of this important mandate from God. In this world, being fruitful is seen in a selfish, competitive way—what’s mine is mine. But God’s kingdom reverses this idea of fruitfulness where our fruitfulness and creativity blesses others—what’s mine is God’s for the benefit of others. Join us as we rethink fruitfulness and the creativity of our work to express the glory of God in this world.

Our Speaker:
David Cederquist

David Cederquist has been serving in underserved neighborhoods for 14 years. His calling in urban ministry and entrepreneurial spirit has brought Brookside Community Church on the near eastside of Indianapolis to become a church for some of the most disadvantaged in our city. With community development and the gospel in center focus, Brookside has launched programs that serves men and women in their reentry, children and teens in a youth development strategy to assist in defying the odds of trauma, and has developed $2 million in transitional and permanent housing. Brookside CDC’s newest initiative, UpRise Indy Inc., is a social enterprise of three businesses to create on the job training opportunities for our cities most vulnerable. Brookside Community Church and CDC are becoming an important part of God’s kingdom building efforts as the church engages the difficulty issues poverty and seeks to alleviate in a gospel-centered way.
